A very anxious but excited hello from northwestern Minnesota as the summer winds down for this rookie traveler. Although it's only the beginning of July, I have a short two weeks until I depart for Tanzania, Africa where I'll spend the entire semester studying abroad through the Lutheran Colleges Consortium to Tanzania (LCCT) program. I'm new at the blog scene, so the first few posts are practice for when I'm in Tanzania.
To give you an idea of how the pre-departure preparations are going: while I have most of the supplies from the "Suggested Packing List" (three pages long, mind you), the items have yet to make their way efficiently into my luggage. I heard I get two bags each weighing under 50 pounds, but I hope I don't need that much space (unless I become a 100-lb. walking pharmacy after my mom insists I take ALL the medicines she bought). :) An update will be coming soon, and cross your fingers it's before the morning of my departure -yes, I have a weakness for last-minute packing.
Feel free to email me at westka04@luther.edu with any questions to my posts; otherwise, space is provided where you can write responses, too. Thanks for joining me on this exciting journey, and I look forward to sharing my adventures with you!
